Anthony answers:
Peanut butter is not a complete protein. Generally, if the protein is animal derived (meat, dairy, eggs) it’s complete. Like you said, quinoa is a complete protein even though it’s a grain. So that leaves peanut butter. It can be made into a complete protein if slathered on some whole grain bread.
Hope that helps!

Ken asks…
where do I find out how much rice per acre of land?
I wikopedia, Encarta and in the book, but it isn’t in there.
I found the wheat it is Calif. The highest producer and 70 bushels per acre.
But I can’t find rice? Please help me?
Does anyone know about Quinoa, it is a high protein grain and the computer kept taking me to storys about South America. We are comparing grains and production.

Anthony answers:
Depends on where the rice is grown. The average of wheat per acre was 31 bushels, until California now gets 70.5 bushels per acre.
So your teacher needs to be more specific. Quinoa, is a high protein grain grown in South America but it is now being grown all over the country it is this new diet food.
1cup gives the protein of 1/4 pound burger and the calcium of a quart of milk. It has been called the new miracle food for weight loss. Because he has the calcium and protein without all the fat. In South America it was said they get half the yield that they get in California. It is kind of like rice and fills you up for the day.
So you need to ask the teacher where is it being grown?

Maria asks…
can my budgies/parakeets eat quinoa?
In addition to fresh greens, I make my bird’s seed mix myself so I can choose only the healthiest ingredients. I was at whole foods buying the millet, instant oats, and flax, when I saw quinoa. I hear it’s a complete protein and it looks small enough to be budgie friendly. Can i add this to my bird’s seed mix or would I need to cook this?

Anthony answers:
No i would not feed them that. Sorry.

James asks…
Can a serious ballerina go vegetarian?
I’m an extremely serious dancer and I plan to have a professional ballet career. I also want to be vegetarian, for many reasons. Would it be unhealthy for me to cut meat out of my diet, because of my dance? My mom is arguing with me about it because she says I won’t get enough protein from beans, nuts, quinoa, tofu, things like that. Please help me!
i’m 13 and still “growing”. should i wait until i’m finished?

Anthony answers:
There’s absolutely no reason you can’t go veggie and be healthy whatever you do, even extreme excercise like ballet.
It might be worth making sure you eat the right veggies to give your body what it needs though. Also vitamin tablets might be a good idea (that meat eaters on the whole, me included, actually more often need than veggies)
Good luck.
